Create a budget and stick to it

I now have hubby in agreement we will create the budget from ONE income, although we have two. That way if we have spill over, we will work harder to eliminate it so we can comfortably live on just one income in addition to the other, and the other can be used to further pay down debt, donate to charity, etc.

As far as the actual numbers and budget categories….we’re still bickering over that…lol!

....your other half proclaims they could never use a budget? Strategizing here….and have already tried cash envelope system as a potential work around….

I’ve been working on the budget today, and I don’t know why its so hard. DH hasn’t been helping by being negative either with “well, you just never know what the electricity is gonna be as it fluxuates so much winter vs. summer.” Estimate, honey, estimate! Our other issue is that we get paid twice monthly, and so in actuality should almost have 2 budgets per month. Other factors include that our grocery bill is often intermingled with other expenses as we shop at Fred Meyer a lot, and that some bills are only due every other month, or in 4 month chunks, etc.

I may create a budget but the big question is will DH accept it and will we stick to it??? I have big issues with him saying “I have the budget all in my head” when I can’t even see it or track how he is interpreting it! Yikes!

Budgeting is so easy, yet so hard. Not sure why I make it difficult. Problem is I am a bit random and I married someone even more random than I!
