in March I have been on a very different schedule. Once I was cleared to come back to work I found that the amount of time required for bathing and dressing with assistance from my husband plus extra time for a bus commute requires that I get out of bed around 5am. So even when I am “running late” I am up far before 6:00.

This goal continues to be difficult for me to reach. It occurs to me that I’m not really going to make much progress on it until I can conquer the “get into bed on time” problem. I’m sure it will be much easier to rise on time after 8 hours of sleep than it has been on less than 6.
So right now I’m concentrating my efforts more on the later end of the day—leaving the office on time, watching less TV, and going to bed earlier.
I have been struggling with this for a long time. But I managed to do pretty well last week thanks to some early morning appointments. Maybe I can stay on track.
Unfortunately I have not done so well with the habit of getting into bed early enough and that has caused me to develop a serious sleep deficit. Even though it’s Saturday I forced myself to get up early so maybe I will fall right into bed earlier in the evening tonight.
The month of December was tough because of holiday deadlines, and I think my wake times were all over the place. Time to start this one anew. I found this great article which I hope will help:

I’ve been doing okay (not great, but okay) at this for several weeks. Starting next Tuesday I’m changing the goal to 6:00.
I decided I needed a more specific goal than “wake up when the alarm goes off”. It seems like my time for getting up has been slipping later and later.
I did pretty well at the 6:15 goal last week, but lost it when the weekend came. I should at least get up the same time on Saturday because my work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday. It’s harder to get motivated though when no one is in the office waiting for you to arrive.
