I am really pleased with how much I have been riding recently. What I need to do now is try to ride more for pleasure. At the moment I simply ride to get from place to place. It would be good to go on some rides that are just for fun, in an interesting place.

I’m actually pretty pleased with my riding efforts.
I have been riding to uni and into town and to the beach recently. I hope I can keep this up. I wonder when I can decide that this goal is complete?
Yesterday I rode both to the beach for a morning swim and into town to go to the state library. It’s really good that it’s so difficult and expensive to find parking in town, it means that I am more motivated to ride my bike. I should also go to the beach more too. It’s there, it’s beautiful and I really should appreciate it more. The water was really calm and clear yesterday, probably because for days now we haven’t had a decent sea breeze to churn it up.
One day, when I have some more money to spend on frivolous things, I would like to buy a bike computer so that I can keep track of how many kms I’m riding.
I am riding. Sometimes.
Every time I go to uni, I go there on my bike. Unfortunately, this hardly counts as riding as I live only a street away from the uni and it only takes me about 5 minutes to get to my part of the campus. On Saturday I caught the new train from Perth to Mandurah and then rode the (aprox.) 9 km from Mandurah to Yunderup where I stayed for the weekend. It was a boiling hot day and there was no shade, but I was glad that I did it. Today I rode into the state library in town. Riding really is the best way to get into town as parking can be difficult to find and it’s expensive. Pity I was riding into the Easterly wind on the way there and into the South-Westerly on the way back. Better exercise I guess…
I got a carrier and a basket for my bike for Christmas. Yay! But the carrier is proving difficult to attach to my bike. Might have to give in and take in to the bike shop where they have more expertise in this area.
I fell off! I wasn’t even going fast. I wasn’t really even riding. I was outside my aunt’s place talking to her as she saw me off and I was sort of sitting on my bike but not riding and I bumped into a low limestone wall and came a complete cropper. On the way down I managed to step on the wheel and now it’s a bit buckled so I’ll have to go and get it fixed. Might have to wait until after Christmas…
My knee is grazed too.
I rode into town today to do some Christmas shopping. It’s such a nice ride along the river. I saw some ducklings which I would not have seen had I been in my car, and I like ducklings. The only problem was that I have no carrier for my bike, so I had to carry my purchases home on the handlebars. I’ve dropped some hints to various people about this, so maybe I’ll get one for Christmas??
It is so nice to have a bike again! I rode around all yesterday and already today I have been to my work breakfast and back by bike. You really get to see the layout of your city from a different perspective on a bike. Hopefully there are enough cool days for me to keep riding. (There’s no point in pretending to myself that I’ll ride on a 40 degree day.)
I have a new bike! A very electric blue bike! The insurance company finally came through and bought me one to replace the one that got stolen. I haven’t ridden it yet. It’s currently in my bedroom because I can’t work out what a safe place would be for it.
We hassled the insurance people today about my bike and apparently we should be getting call from the bike shop soon to organise a replacement for the one that got stolen. Yay! I’ll be able to ride again. And get my “exercise every day” goal happening.
