throwing quotes back and forth with Nick from Spamalot…

“I fart in your general direction” (said in a French accent)... hey he is a 11 year old boy… what would you expect?!?

So, yesterday Nick and I are watching the Giants play the Cardinals. The game starts and I am explaining to him different strategies, etc. He looks at me and said he had a question. I’m like… sure buddy what is it?

“When do we get to start yelling at the TV?”

I love this kid.

Today Nick and I headed off the the Bronx Zoo. The zoo was his idea and a rather good one at that. It was the 1st time either of us have been there. The weather and company was great! My favorite was the monkeys while Nick was into the tigers.

Nick and I set out to do some geocaching today. Found 2 before the need to have lunch crept in. Picture of Nick near the location of the second cache we found.

Next week he and I will have a few days together during the day. Nick told me tonight he wants to go to NYC. So, I’ll have to start working on ideas. Bronx Zoo is one; Museum of Natural History is another…

I’ll have to see what he has in mind.

Friday took Nick fishing along with my Uncle Bob and my cousin, Dan. It was a beautiful day and as you can see from the look on his face I think Nick enjoyed himself. Caught a few and were boarded by the US Coast Guard for a safety check (which we passed). He turned 11 few months ago and I can see him starting to act more like a teenager then a little boy. Another great day.

With only 24 regular season home games left before it is replaced with a new one, Nick and I needed to make one more trip to The Stadium. Today we sat with the “bleacher creatures” and the Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles 13-3. Another great day.

So today Nick wanted to go hiking. I pulled together some sandwiches, water and off we went. Here is a picture of him next to what is called tripod rock, which was left like that since the last ice age. In the middle of our hike, he said I really like when we do this, we should do it more often…

Without a doubt we will.

My son is home from camp this week and we decided that this week should be Guy Week. We’ll do things this week that Mom isn’t into while giving us the opportunity to spend time together. Some of the events (but not all) planned for the week are: Seeing the Dark Knight movie, Yankee Stadium, Wii tournaments and fishing at the shore.

Last night Nick and I decided we would be chefs and cook Pizza. He and I made a mess but in the end we made some pretty good pies. 1 was simple pepperoni and the other was a veggie pie with spinach, basil, tomatoes, mushrooms and of course garlic. This morning he told me how much fun he had and wants us to come up with another meal we can cook together. – Cool!
