This tapping video by Jim Stinnett is very helpful:
clarendonnights has written 6 entries about this goal

I would love to learn how to tap a bass like that.
Slowly learning the Raconteurs “Steady As She Goes”
Slowly learning the bass line for Death Cab for Cutie’s “I Will Possess Your Heart”. Its pretty simple:
G|—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-|
D|—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-|
A|—-—-—-—-—-—8-—-8——8-10-12|
E|-8/10-10-10-8-8/10-10-10-8-10-10-—10-——|
I’m coming along with the sliding between 8 and 10. I don’t know how to do the finger work when it switches between A8 and E10 so quickly.
When I get this down my next goal is the Raconteurs “Steady As She Goes”, which might be technically simpler but has a lot more variation between the verses and chorus lines.
Getting a little bitter, I think I figured out one bass riff from Dismemberment Plan’s “The City”
Progress is coming along, although I can only read tabs not notes. I wish I could get the index finger-pick/thumb-slap technique down; its really sounds impressive.
Once I get a little better and more comfortable with the bass I’ll get start taking in-person lessons. For now I’m just learning from Carl Shepard from expertvillage.com at: http://www.expertvillage.com/video-series/406_how-to-play-bass.htm
