...great news from Hollywood ! The screenwriters have delayed the big screen adaption of “Angels and Demons”. Down with Tom Hanks’ dodgy barnet !

“The Da Vinci Code” is just about the worst book I’ve ever wasted my money on. (Paulo Coelho’s “Veronika Decides to Die” is the only one that runs it close). The famed twists and turns were blatantly obvious, not to mention the identity of the chief bad guy while certain words and phrases were used to the point of distraction. The male lead character, Robert Langdon, was irritating, smug and dismissive. (I can’t remember reading any other book where I’ve WANTED the ‘bad guy’ to beat the ‘hero’ – preferably in as bloody a fashion as possible). Sophie Neveu, his sidekick, was as gullible a person I’ve ever encountered in print. His list of twisted and misrepresented ‘facts’ have now been soundly debunked and his descriptions of Paris would seem to indicate he’s never been there. (I have doubts as to whether he even bothered flicking through a guide). And yet, even his apologists (oops, sorry, I mean fans) tell me his other books just aren’t anywhere nearly as ‘good’ as ‘The Da Vinci Code’.

There’s no need for him to write anything else. Brown’s BOUND to me rich enough by now, there are plenty of good books out there that people can read instead and Tom Hanks won’t need to wheel out his dodgy haircut for “The Da Vinci Code 2”.
