It has been a while since I reported in on this goal. When I set it, I weighed 385 pounds, and this morining I was 334 when I got out of bed! 50 pounds in 5 months is right on target – woo-hoo!!
I owe my success to the motivation at www.sparkpeople.com. It’s a free dieting and exercise site, and I highly recommend that anyone looking to lose weight go there and look around.

Best wishes to you all!!

I was told tonight by my brother and his wife that I’ve been looking much better lately – and that it is more than just weight loss. They said I look happier. They aren’t here to see me cry late at night… but that’s even happening less now, now that I think of it.
I have lost 25 pounds since August 1st of this year, when I found out I am diabetic. I am down to 352 pounds from 385 this time last year.
I have a long way to go, but slow and steady wins the race – right? Let’s see how I handle it when this streak I’m on finally plateaus…
God bless you all in your reach for this goal. I think the post by “crazyinagoodway” about already being sexier than she knows she is really contains the best example for all of us – if we love who we are, we’ll shine no matter what!

I have made little progress in this goal over the past months. Three weeks ago, I got news that has inspired me anew: I found out I am diabetic.
Suddenly, I find that I DO have the ability to sit for hours beside an open bag of potato chips and not touch them. Late night snacks just don’t interest me anymore. And somehow the ability to eat regular, sensible meals has bubbled up from the depths of my soul.
In taking on the task of controlling my blood glucose levels, I have forged a new understanding with my old friend Food. I’ll respect Food, and Food will respect me in return. And my body will in the end be better and stronger!
Already, I have lost about 12 pounds. My outlook on life has improved and I feel like a new person. Heck, I’m looking sexier already!!
I won’t say diabetes is a blessing – but it sure is an eye-opener.
Bless you all in your trips in and out of the kitchen, and may you each find the motivation you need to succeed!

Well, I set the goal then got bogged down and kind of hid from it.
I committed yesterday on SparkPeople.com to get down from 385 to 250 pounds by my 40th birthday. I’ve told everyone they’ll be seeing less and less of me this year.

Is there room for a man to join you in the pursuit of slim sexiness?
I am almost 39, pretty sure I just lost my wife of two years, and hope to make changes to help the next 40 years shine! I decided I can’t start looking again for my Ms. Right until I examine myself and become more of a Mr. Right first – and step 1 is to lose 100+ pounds. I am at 365 now.
Even if I never find her, at least I will be able to look myself in the eye when I look in the mirror knowing that I have respected myself.
I just can’t seem to pass up a slice of Christmas cake, though. Christmas is one of the few days of the year that makes a person glad twice – in the morning you are glad it is finally here, and in the evening you are glad it’s finally over!
Merry Christmas to all!
