Finished lesson 8 on to lesson 9. Learning how to sign various forms of clothes is really stupid since most of the signs involve touching what you are wearing.

Finished Lesson 7 rather easily, Lesson 8 seems to actually have some new vocabulary for me. I’ll probably go through the first 7 lessons tonight and just make sure I can sign all the vocab. I don’t want to go forgetting the things I’ve learned. I’ve totally forgotten colors, but whatever, I can finger spell them.

I’m finding that many of the first 100 signs I committed to memory are apart of the curriculum in the beginning lessons making it easier for me to tear through them. I suspect once I get out of my comfort zone that the lessons will take much longer.

It’s also interesting to be able to say the same word in English, Arabic and Sign. House, Father, Mother, City, Later, Now, Etc. Etc. If I get bored in the car I see how many words I can translate through all.

I’m beginning Lesson 2 of 45 on lifeprint.com, I got 100% on the lesson 1 review.

I was right, they are stupid. Especially since I bothered to learn finger spelling. Most of the signs for color are just “initialized” wrist shakes, or in the case of “Orange” it looks like you are proposing something entirely lewd in 38 states.

Which Is Shameful Considering I’m Almost In MY Thirties.

A few are goofy, some even appear to be numbers backwards, like F and 9. But I know them all, most without having to consult a paper, and I can spell a lot of dirty words.

So I guess I’m making some progress.

I haven’t memorized the colors though. For some reason I think that’s stupid. I’ll probably feel differently when my car gets stolen by a man in a [red/blue/green] jacket and the only witness is deaf.
