Grow a plant

I can’t seem to do this even though I really want to. I bought a callalilly about a month ago and I can’t seem to make it live. It’s in direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day and I wate it regularly. A friend suggested that I maybe watering it too much and I’ve tried giving it less water when watering it as well as not watering it as often but nothing seems too help.

There are only two leaves and three flowers left on the plant. The rest of the leaves turned yellow and died. I noticed one day that they seemed to get ALOT lighter only afew hours after giving it water.

Is it possible that my tap water is not suitable for plant life?
If not does anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

I moved my callalilly and stop watering it quite so much and it’s doing much better now…but it’s really not very healthy looking. It still turns yellow whenever I water it. Everyone keeps telling me it’s becuase I water it too much but I’ve followed all of the instructions I have been given. Does anyone know if the plant will get enough water if I simply mist it lightly once a day or so?
