I lived in a rural setting complete with R.R. box #, reading my own water meter, filling a propane tank, no cable TV, a party line for my telephone, deer grazing in my backyard, no worrying about most people dropping by without calling first. It is not for everyone, but I did this for 10 years before moving into town and think about it often. I do not regret it one bit though living in the city is more convenient and I have no plans to move back to the country in the future.
I know that I stated this as one of my 43 things, but everyone wishes they could either relive an experience they enjoyed or daydream about a place in their past. I do wonder what my life would be like if I was living in the country now.
