Research my family tree

For the time being, I putting this on the back burner.

I knew this already. My Great-Great Aunt Anna Marie Pittman VanMeter left 1000 acres of her estate to the state of Missouri when she died in 1932 to be set up as a state park in honor of her husband Abe VanMeter. She was the sister of my great-grandfather Richard C. Pittman who died in 1937.

My Aunt Barb has done a lot of researching of my dad’s family and has really filled me in on what she has uncovered. She has even done a book on the Duffy family which I hope to get a copy sometime.

My Aunt Barb had told me some interesting things that happened in her life. For intance, She was born in 1930. My grandparents were undecided about her name for several months. It wasn’t until she was 31 and needed her birth certificate to get a marriage license that it was discovered that her name was left blank. I think finding out facts like this is interesting because she had led a very eventful life. Someday, I would like to get all the stories she has told me put on paper.

I got a book thru the mail from my Aunt Barbara. More details later after I read thru part of it.

My granmother Jane Catherine Collier’s ancestry

I have been going through endless family photos trying to identify them while there are family members still living who remember who these people are. Catalogging these old pitures is one of my 43 things already. This has led to my wanting to do research on my family tree.

Much of this has already been done by other relatives. There is a book of the Pittman family which I have a copy. My dad’s sister has done extensive research of the Duffy family and made a book which I hope to get a copy. I found an outline of my grandmother’s family Collier. I have endless photos from the Johnson family which is the name of my maternal grandmother.

Now, it is time to get organized.
