1) The continuing bounty of local grown veggies bought fresh the day they are picked by our neignbors, acquaintances and friends who are willing to sell them to supplement their incomes.

2) The safe return each weekend of our over-the-road truckdriving neighbors.

3)Receiving a wake-up call on my own health needs. Hopefully, it will give me the motivation to cut back on junk food and portions and help me lose weight.

4)I have vacation coming up in 2 weeks.

5)Getting enough hours in at work which eguals a better paycheck.

1. Rain when we need it . . . both for our own garden and for area farmers’ fields.
2. Going thru one of the boxes of old photos I have. I found a few photos of my paternal grandmother which brought back some fond childhood memories.
3. Homegrown veggies.
4. Early morning quiet.
5. Our older cat accepting the newest member of the household.

1. A nice 3 day holiday weekend. Especially since this is traditionally the busiest time of the year for us. Maybe I should be thanking the slower economy for making this possible for the first time in years.

2. We are now eating zuchini out of our own garden and will soon have bell peppers and tomatoes as well.

3. A fine fireworks display put on by our city. It didn’t get rained out as feared.

4. Needed rain for area farmers’ crops. And our gardens, too.

5. The antics put on by our cats. Sometimes, it is quite a show.

My grandaughter Paige is finally gaining weight, is a walking, jabbering, healthy one year old.
Slow, but steady progress is being made on our house in Slater which we will probably get moved into after the first of nect year.
I think Thanksgiving will be a simple affair, with just 6 of us, which I’m grateful as I’ll be doing the cooking.
So far, no snow or ice and very little frost each morning. I’ve been able to get to work with minimal problems associated with said conditions.
I’m thankful that George finally went to the doctor after experiencing chest pains and is getting treated and not putting this off any longer

1. Even though the weather changed earlier this week, I am grateful that the first 5 days of November and warm and dry here.

2. Cool crisp days filled with beautiful fall colors, falling leaves and brisk walks. I’m such a kid, I just love walking through a pile of leaves and hearing the rustling they make.

3. Stupid, silly romance novels. It is refreshing to read something light when I ususally read long, involved suspense or espianage novels.

4. No weekend work, a second Saturday in a row. WOW!

5. Catching up on laundry which means I have a wardrobe choice, once more. There is always a silver lining in the most mundane of chores.

1. Power tools and the foresight to purchasing them instead of renting them. They are worth the investment.

2. Our garden is still producing tomatoes. We were able to pick several large green ones for a friend to make fried green tomatoes.

3. Our neighbor for sharing his homemade beer with us.

4. Really, really thankful for what could have been a tragedy wasn’t one. When my daughter’s car was totalled, the one good thing was that the driver wasn’t seriously hurt or killed. My daughter realises the vehicle can be replaced, but her friend’s life cant.

5. Bubble wrap. It is amazing how a little bubble wrap can keep a bored 9 year old occupied.
