To start, I’ll wake up by 8:45 every day. This phase won’t be hard, because I get up around 9 AM now. Naturally, I wake up around 8, but sleep in until 9 to avoid the hustle and bustle of other people getting ready for work.
If all goes well, next week I will start waking up 5-10 minutes earlier every day until I’m getting up at 8. I want to gradually train myself so that in 2-4 month’s time, I automatically wake up at 6:00 AM every day. If I get up earlier than that, I seem to get tired too early. Even though early morning is really beautiful and peaceful, I saw too much of it when I had a job that required me to get up between 4-4:30 every day. Eek! I don’t know how I did it.
Right now I have three alarms that go off: One at 7:30, one at 8:00, one at 9:00. When the first one goes off, I tend to turn the other two off. I’ll try to just set two alarms for a while, and not have one go off so early.
As much as I’m probably going to whine and moan a bit, I’m looking forward to this! I really want to get my life and body in shape, and being in control of my sleeping schedule is a great step in the process.
