Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Snow! Lots and lots of snow.
I saw someone’s name get shortened to noliver@... for an e-mail, which I guess isn’t funny when you think about it, but was funny at the time.

The fact that I have completed this goal!

I read an article I had to read for class (by Leslie Kern) that was really relevant to me. At the same time, I was listening to DJ Tiesto’s In the Dark, which is really relevant to the article. I thought that was a really unique experience.

Second last entry!

I FINALLY got an e-mail saying I’m at the top of the HOTS Dust Rackets list!
And also, I borrowed the EST “Strange Place for Snow”. It’s so funny because it just started to get really cold now. Can’t wait to listen to it!

Approaching 365!
Well, this was done in the middle of the night but still counts as the day.
Discovered many songs I haven’t listened to in a while.

I read an uplifting editorial written by someone I know, published in the newspaper.
I didn’t expect him to write it though.

I realized that I’m getting great aerobic exercise by having to walk up four flights of stairs two to three times per day, at least three days a week!

For the first time, in my life I think, I saw someone having to stop and take a break on the third level while I just continued on up. I still get breathless by the end, but not wheezingly so.

Finally got my field camp report back. I’ve been going to the prof’s office for at least 6 times!

Worked a lot on my stupid phonology assignment, due in two days, well, one day now.

Again, stuck myself in a library and did work.
Also finally completed Paris to the Moon by Adam Gopnik after reading it since September.
I started Enduring Love by Ian McEwan and it’s addictive!

I went to the bookstore and browsed. It was lovely. I’m reading up on Iceland, the place where I want to do an exchange/study abroad, but I’m afraid I can’t do that until the ‘09-’10 year. Oh well. Never too early to dream!

Naamiee has gotten 7 cheers on this goal.
