I have no idea how or why, but over the fall semester I procrastinated very little. I actually read the assigned material for once in my college career! I didn’t stay up all night finishing papers the night before they were due! All of this kind of happened magically, or so it seemed. I think I became less of a procrastinator because I figured out why I always wanted to do it later. I had/have a lot of anxiety and when I feel overwhelmed, I can’t do anything. Maybe it’s because I worked through some issues.
Then again, maybe I was inspired by what happened to me at the end of the previous semester. My economics paper was due in twelve hours, and I came down with a raging case of the stomach flu. I was pretty sure I was going to die. “Dear god,” I thought. “This is the end.” I had to write that damn paper with a bucket in my lap. Luckily, everyone did so horribly that all the assignments were graded on a curve but still. Before you say “I’ll do it later,” think of it this way: what if you’re physically incapable of doing it later?!
