Today someone asked me if I wanted to go ahead of her in line at the grocery store check out line. I said no, that she could go ahead.
I feel that I am being more considerate of others. However, I do not feel that I am to the point that can say that “I’ve done this”.
Sometimes, people can make this so hard. I guess that is when being considerate of other people takes on its true meaning.
I am deliberately looking for ways that I can be more considerate of others. The quote by Einstein is so profound,”Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile”.
I did have someone come to my office the other day. They started venting about something. I listened! I did not steal the conversation. I consciously listened in an effort to be considerate of this person-who was obviously in emotional pain.
To me this means to not focus SO MUCH on myself-to focus on other more. Outside of my professional life, I feel that I am always on the receiving end of help and not the giving end. I also want to care about others more than I do. I am too selfish!
