John Lee’s cheer reminded me about this one. (thanks John)
I bought some real nice stuff. Fresh jar of french mayonaisse, a jar of nice pasta bolognese sauce, some heinz beans in rich tomato sauce, a can of fresh plum tomatoes, and some cream of mushroom soup. Then I drove round some churches and they were all shut!
So, I have the stuff, just need to see the priest/vicar and get him to distribute it.
I realised that helping out in this regard is kinda difficult for me. I also thought that what about the poor who don’t do the church thing, lots of poor people don’t for all sorts of reasons. Who helps them I wondered.
I think I might look up some volunteering organisations.
I was talking with a friend this morning about old people. I don’t think that we as a society do enough for the old. I watched some program the other day. It shocked me. It was about old people who are found in their houses, often as a result of a complaint from a neighbour complaining of a foul odour. Why is it that we can’t keep watch on the vulnerable? Why is it that so many of our old and infirm go to their ends alone and unwanted. When and why did some aspects of our organised society decide that the old don’t matter no more. There has to be a better way.
