Northern European Chocolate: Excellent Choco thats a great value 3 years ago

Fazer OY in Finland started making chocolate products over a hundred years ago. Their chocolate, especially their blue bar (think the Finnish equivalent of the USA Hershey bar…only MUCH MUCH better) is especially a great value for the chocolate lover out there.

For the mint fanatic, the Fazermint is a soft mint creme surrounded by their yummy chocolate coating. This is the product most often found in USA gourmet stores.

Their hazelnut praline in the form of the Geisha chocolate (bars and minis) was the first Finnish thing I fell in love with! The affection for the tall leggy blonde came later. ;)

Toffee lovers will enjoy the Fazer Dumle. Caramel surrounding by smooth chocolate coating.

Lastly for those of you who like a bit of “kick” with your chocolate: I give you their Finlandia chocolates…mini bitsize chocolate pieces that are individually wrapped and contain wonderful Finlandia vodka filling!

Some of these products can be found in duty free stores around the world and even in various shops in the USA. One warning for those of you in warm climates. The chocolate does not have a lot of stablizers in it (naturally!) but that means it melts much more quickly than most American chocolates, for instance. Not a problem from Helsinki or further north, but don’t leave it in a warm place for very long!

I do find that most Fazer chocloate products, excepting the company flagship and premium priced, “Wiener Nougat”, as priced lower than their continental competition but are every bit as good a chocolate as anything out there today! Enjoy Finnish chocolate and save your cash for those special occasions and the Belgian hand made delicacies!
