I’ve been talking about doing this for forever, and as unhappy as I’ve been lately it’s time to make positive changes. I figure not only will I save money by making instead of purchasing many of the clothes I would like, but I will look better in general as well. I will be able to tailor the clothes for my body instead of having to make something look right that doesn’t exactly fit. Moreover, since once of my positive changes is working out, I figure I’ll be dealing with size changes in the near future (or at least I hope so!). It will be a lot easier on my pocketbook if I don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe, but just ‘take in’ my current closet to fit.
I, unfortunately, don’t have the funds to get started just yet, but within the next month I should be able to get a WalMart starter machine and get going. By that time it will be getting warmer here in the dirty south and I can start out simple with sundresses, skirts, and tank tops.
I would like to learn to hand stitch as well, but I feel it would take a LOT more practice making handmade clothes that don’t look… well… handmade.
I also want to start knitting but… one thing at a time, right?
