I guess I can click that I’ve done this, as I can play rudiments and set fairly well, read music, and stay on beat. I’ve been practicing every day for the last three months and I can see a major improvement from the first time I picked up sticks.
For those who are looking to learn, get lessons! A good instructor is invaluable, as s/he can help point out mistakes you’re making and keep you learning at a nice pace. Your teacher should be able to adapt to your personal goals instead of forcing a specific curriculum onto you. My teacher is very talented, and from the beginning has asked me where I wanted to go with my drumming so he could help me get there. Good luck to everyone! Drums are absolutely wonderful.
That being said, you are never done learning drums – I plan on continuing to learn, practice, and improve!
