And R-Cubed is up and running :) 4 years ago

I’d say this goal is done. . .

Have my book 4 years ago

And bought a pack of colored pens tonight.

I plan to try each of them in the back, and then will post my final decision regarding color choice :)

(I went with Undead and Unwed, and we’ll see how it turns out).

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED 4 years ago

Go to this yahoo group, and join:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/R-cubed

this way we can exchange personal stuff like addresses, and set up our mailing schedule so things don’t end up taking a YEAR to get home :)

and this way if other people want to start their own round robin in a month, but ours isn’t done yet, they can just use the group to start a second round robin

it can be a new nation-wide trend ;)

So - for the purposes of mailing these out 4 years ago

Once we for sure have our five participants, I’ll post one of my non-permanent email addresses so that we can all contact each other to exchange mailing addresses. And then I’ll set up a mailing schedule, just like for the altered book RRs.

It would be great if we could all choose a book by the end of the year, so that we can mail them right around the last week of January, or the first week of February.

And post your ideas on the book you may be choosing, so that we don’t somehow end up with two of the same title ;)

This is so exciting, that people are actually interested in doing this!!

Just an idea that popped into my head 4 years ago

at 4 o’clock in the morning today, while I was up working on my research paper.

I HAD to take a mental break to avoid a mental breakdown. And I am currently reading Eragon, which my best friend had just finished reading and mailed to me. So I picked up the book and gave myself ten minutes on the timer to read, and relax. And read something that, at a normal time of day, I would have called my friend to get HER reaction when SHE had read it.

And then I thought “I wish she were the sort of person who made comments in the margin, so I wouldn’t have to wait until she was awake to call her.”

And then I had my idea.

Round Robins are something artists do with collaborative artwork. For instance – in altered books, five people will each start an AB. Then they will each mail their book to the next person on the list, and do a spread in another person’s book, and then mail again, and so on until they have worked in all of the books and all of the books have come home. It’s really cool to get a book back that has travelled the country, and see what everyone else has contributed to the theme.

Why can’t I find five people who love to read? And each could pick a book. And a signature color. And read their own book, making comments or underlining key quotes in their color. Then, at the end of the month, mailing the book to the next person in the group, and getting the person’s book before you to read, and underline, and comment.

Then, after 5 months, you get your OWN book back, with a rainbow of comments from everyone else who has read it!

Sounds really cool, to me at least.

Anyone else want to try this, if I can get five people? (I call the color purple!! Or else red!! Maybe pink??)
