Actually went in with shorts and things and worked out. This went well. I actually ran on a treadmill and found it tolerable for the first time, although there was a certain amount of muttering and cursing at the treadmill’s computer. They need analog treadmills with big brushed-aluminum fast-slow and up-down knobs and no other controls. Having a nice view of Puget Sound in good weather didn’t hurt a bit either.
Also for the first time ever, I actually found it pleasant and even a little enjoyable to run. In the past, I’ve usually done it under various degrees of duress, at best as a necessary part of some other thing like soccer. But I’ve always hated running, every step and every breath, no matter how much I did it or how conditioned I got. This wasn’t bad at all.
I didn’t do a huge workout—my body sent a few clear signals that a slow start was in order—but I did a respectable little one, and felt good about it. We’ll see where this goes. Ow! My left wrist hurts now!
