I have started sending resumes out. PT law clerk, legal editor for Lexis, a couple of firms.
Just seeing what’s out there.

I think it went very well, and I came across the way I wanted to- professional, caring, human. Transcript here. http://22tweets.com/index.php/2009/09/15/charlesthomas/
I also wrote what I think was a very good blog post on my legal writing blog about lessons we can learn from Dan Brown. http://www.persuasiveauthority.net/?p=44
I will be twitterviewed this afternoon at 3PM Eastern, 12 Pacific. Follow @22twts and @charlesthomas to watch.
Sometimes, I need to turn a client down. The pain in the ass factor just isn’t worth it.
I have been networking like mad, and the referrals are beginning to come in. Of course as I write this, I am damn near broke, so the timing is perfect!
I have three sites, more or less up and running. My main site is http://www.attorneycharlesthomas.com. I have two blogs, http://www.persuasiveauthority.net, which is about legal writing; and http://www.PhillyLGBTLawyer.com, which should be fairly self-explanatory.
I am getting some hits on both, and hopefully that will turn into clients.
First, I absolutely MUST finish my web site, which is currently visible in a very incomplete state at www.attorneycharlesthomas.com.
Second, I have to get on some court appointment lists to fill out my caseload. Thinking about getting on the CJA panel to get Federal cases.
Third, I have to expand my face-to-face network. Network equals referrals.
I turned some of those leads into paid clients. And I have more to contact.
A whole bunch of cases — real, paying clients — fell in my lap.
Funny sense of humor this universe has.
But it was still important to explore my options. I am a lawyer, not a marketer, and I don’t know much about those sorts of things.
