Exercise has so many positive results, yet so few people do it on a regular basis. Why? I had this problem my freshman year. You know how it is… The gym’s too far. It’s freezing outside. I have too much work. I made up so many lame excuses, and told myself I’ll just go another day when I’m not as busy. Of course, I never went to the gym last year.

I realized I have to make time for it. The hard part is just deciding to go to the gym. Once you’re out the door, everything is easy. If you get into the habit of exercising regularly, you will be addicted to it. It makes you feel better – you’ll be livelier every day, and healthier in the long run, both physically and mentally.

I think of going to the gym as taking some time off, and an excuse to listen to some music (I wouldn’t feel guilty for listening to music rather than working). Even if there’s unfinished work due tomorrow, I still try to take an hour off to exercise (that would’ve been unthinkable last year). I just think, if I were to stay in my room instead, I would very likely spend at least half the hour wasting time online.

Right now I work out 3 or 4 times a week, due to lack of time (I know, the old excuse but I’m getting better). You’ll see that some of my other goals refer to my exercise routine as well. They’re here to motivate me to add more to my current routine.
