complement someone

My aunt Elizibeth, that we’ve called aunt Iggie all of my life is the most precious woman you would ever meet. She has always been someone I’ve looked up to over the years. Back in the day, she was always the most polite, sweetest lady. Her husband, my mom’s brother passed away about twenty years ago and she was the rock for her three boys.

A couple years ago, while living alone she had a stroke and she’s been in assisted living ever since. She still mumbles from the stroke but she is still the most precious person. She always tells everyone, “I love you” putting emphasis on LOVE when she says it. It’s the sweetest thing.

Today my family went for a visit, and I made sure to let her know how beautiful she looked all dressed up in her purple. And followed up with how great it was to always see her with such a big smile on her face.

As sad as her condition is… She is still one of the most happy people I know.

Today I told my SIL and another lady at my church both how nice they looked in their colors of choice. They honestly did look very nice, and it was even nicer to see the smiles on their faces when I complemented them.

After a nice, long heart to heart with one of my dear friends today. We spoke in regards to something that has been on my mind a lot lately. My friend and I have so much in common and many of the same values in life that it’s just amazing sometimes.

Anyway, after our nice chit chat I sent her a text that said, “I hope you know how much I appreciate your advice, thoughts and listening. Your friendship and opinions mean the world to me. Thank you for always being there.”

I love her dearly and am so thankful for her everyday.

The hair salon next door serves a more uppity type clientele. So this morning while I was in the parking lot, one of the uppity type ladies came in. She wasn’t going to look my general direction, let alone speak—So I caught her attention and said, “Oh I love your top! It looks great on you.” Go me!
