learn to belly dance

it was really, really good. There are about 15 of us and we all had a blast. The teacher was imppressed with all of us as when we put moves together to make a little dance – she threw things in at us and we all kept up and did the moves correctly.

I kinda wish the class was more than only once a week. LOL

That’s right! I am signing up for a continuing education class that starts the fourth of next month… It is a 6 week course and it will be good to have someone let me know if my posture is wrong. Trying to learn from DVDs is a bit difficult in that respect. They can’t tell you if you are doing it correctly or not. LOL

I am also hoping the teacher in Atlanta will be able to take me in March. She has a lot going on right now and doesn’t usually take beginners so I am hoping this class and maybe the next one at the college will make me not so much a beginner anymore. :-)

BUT that is ok, I still have my Belly Twins DVDs and the Dolphina one that doesn’t really teach me much but I did find on Fit TV a show called “Shimmy” and I have learned a lot from that one. In fact I just ordered season one!

I have made an outfit and I have also purchased some outfits on line. I am taking this so seriously. I really want to learn how to do this and there are so many different kinds of belly dance, even though they incorporate some of the same moves… costumes and things vary.

Thanks to Dancing several times a week and really watching what I eat, I have lost 18 pounds so far. :-) An added benifit! I feel better about myself and actually feel beautiful.

Well in my area there aren’t any teachers so I found a website that listed all the teachers in Georgia. I emailed over 40 of them and only two responded - one said that there was no way in hades that they would help me…. and the other is going to give me lessons once a month – I will have to drive over an hour one way to get there, but I am going to do it!!!

In fact I met her this past Sunday. She and her students had a Belly Dancing party and I was invited. I brought the costume I have started to make and they thought it was really great! I had a blast and look forward to meeting the ladies again.

They did a really neat dance while holding candles in their hands. All the demonstrations were so beautiful.

I am looking for the three DVDs by the Belly Twins as the Dolphina Video really doesn’t teach belly dancing…. it is more of a workout video… so that is one of my Belly Dancing Goals… the next is to get caught up to the teacher’s other students so I can actually be part of a class and learn some routines.
