Really couldn’t afford it but to be truthful I can’t afford emotionally not to pamper myself anymore. It has never been a secret that I love being a girl.
The manicurist was Vietnamese. He told me the story of growing up in a communist country. His brothers escaped as boat people in 1979. They made it to San Francisco where they settled and sponsored this young man and his parents to come to the United States when he was 15.
He loves America and all of the opportunity it allows us. Something those of us who grew up here tend to take for granted.
He is happily married and expecting their first child, a new baby daughter named Jasmine. He was so cute when he explained he worked very hard with his brother in law to build the salon business. His reason for working so hard?
A happy wife makes a happy life. :)

Bright auburn hair works with my ivory skin and blue eyes very nicely. Everyone says I look really good. That is wonderful to hear. It has been a while since I have really cared how I look.
Changing my diet to mostly salads – vegetarian again…well pescatarian. I love fish.
Exercising everyday now. Life is good.

I have decided to do something different with my hair. I have worn it darker reddish brown here in the wilderness so yesterday I bought a bright medium auburn rinse. I was reluctant to put it in because it is so bright so I asked opinions from people I know.
My photographer friend said it didn’t matter to him he is colorblind. The girl I work with says she likes my hair darker. But I kept asking until I got a friend to agree with me that it would be really cute.
Guess I had made up my mind to begin with…so this afternoon I’m going to try it. :)

has ruined my teeth. I have a beautiful smile but my teeth have gotten darker and the enamel is wearing off. I need to get them brightened and capped before it’s too late.
I’ve tried whitening strips and whitening tooth pastes. That hasn’t worked so I’ll find a good dentist here in the wilderness.
This isn’t actual pampering but maintenance for good health. :)

Yesterday I got to actually take a 2 hour nap. Well I was actually watching a movie and fell asleep but it was pleasant to wake up feeling refreshed with no rush to do anything.
I was going to do some baking and make a big pot of stew but that can wait for another evening. ;)

is refreshing but it drys out your skin! OMG! I should buy stock in a moisturizing lotion company.
The one thing living in a humid climate does for you is keep your skin soft and wrinklefree… southern women have a certain glow about them.
Here I have to drink in gallons of water and pour on bottles and bottles of lotion to keep hydrated… the illusion of being a southern woman takes much more work here.
Guess there has to be a negative or two for living in paradise but who would have thought this?

getting false nails with a french manicure so my hands look beautiful all the time or grow out my natural nails and risk a nail breaking…
decisions, decisions.

hooray! Most of it goes for rent, the rest was designated for bills too.
This morning I said phooey to spending all of my money on bills. It has been months since I did anything nice for me.
Lancombe is having a gift promotion at Dillards. I hopped in the car and went to the mall. I found a great new fall lipstick and lip pencil plus the gift =lipstick, eye shadow, mascara and instant face lift creams in a cute black and pink bag.
As I was walking by Foleys I noticed it had changed to Macy’s…how could I not know that???
Anyway they were having a sale so I bought myself a pair of 24k gold hoop earrings (half-priced)...heaven knows my boyfriend does not buy me jewelry. Since we’ve been together most of my gold has been sold. I found a beautiful topaz ring on sale but I can’t afford it right now…soon though!
It felt good to do something really nice just for me. :)

erasing the shoulds out of my vocabulary and replacing them with wants…
This is a really fun exercise. :)

has always scared me. Unfortunately I do not have good teeth so I have some major things to take care of in the next year.
I have been avoiding it because of the cost but that is not a good enough reason even for me anymore.
I need to find a Dentist that specializes in terrified patients.;)
