Last night 4 days ago

there were 4 of us discussing taking the amtrak to Essex and cross country ski. One of my friends had a hilarious story about a very selfish guy she was dating years ago and they had gone there for a weekend of skiing.

She had asked him if she needed to take her checkbook and he said no he had it covered. She packed cheeses, crackers and thuringers for snacks along the trail and off they went on their adventure.

She was there for 2 days and he did not buy her a meal…they lived on the snacks she had packed. The morning they were leaving she woke up to find him gone. Thinking he was packing the car she went to find him anxious to get home and have something to eat.
She found him in the restuarant eating breakfast…he did not offer her anything. Needless to say they didn’t date after that.

After telling us this story we ruled out a trip to Essex and decided to learn to snowshoe in Glacier Park!

A wintry wonderland~ 1 week ago

Last week I watched White Christmas for the 1000th time in my life (I may be exagerating but not much). Every time I watch it tears well up with the end where the….oops if you haven’t seen it I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise.

Anyway tonight I walked downtown to meet my friend for chile rejenos at our favorite spot. It has been snowing all day so my walk to and from dinner was so pristine, quiet and white.

There are times I absolutely love it here. :)

Went for a walk 2 months ago

this morning in the brisk cold air with large fluffy snowflakes falling on my head. It seems early for snow but the peacefulness it seems to empower is something to behold.

Sadly, the snow will turn to rain later today and it will all disappear. But I’m sure it will be back again soon. :)

I have nooo problems! 5 months ago

Yesterday I splurged and bought a pair of Adidas walking shoes at Famous Footwear. I am determined to take care of myself. If I don’t who will?

I have a friend I usually walk with so we made plans to walk early this morning. I woke up at 5:30 and by 6 was ready to go but she didn’t answer the phone.

I watched Joyce Meyer who spoke about enjoying our ordinary lives everyday by the grace of God. Then I headed out for a walk. I walked around town for about 45 minutes. I decided to walk one more lap around the park across the river from me when I met a young man in a wheelchair walking with his dog.

He has MS and can’t see well. He was meeting a dog trainer who is helping him train his terrier Diogi who is a year old. He was a happy person enjoying the beautiful day. He was very grateful to be living in such a beautiful place. His only wish was that the city would hard-pack a spot on the river so he could fish…not only for him but for anyone who is handicapped.

He was such a joyous person even in his situation. God must have put him in my path to emphasize the lesson he wanted me to learn today.

No more whining for me. By the grace of God I want the joy that my new friend has in his life regardless of what is going on.

I have been walking 5 months ago

all spring…and am up to about 4 miles each time I go. Very proud of that but today we walked about a mile down to the lake to the boat slip…didn’t give that a thought until it came time to walk back up that steep mile stretch to the car.

My friend’s daughter and granddaughter were ahead of me…my friend, her son-in-law and 2 year old grandson were behind me.

Whenever I got winded and wanted to stop I looked back and the baby was truckin right along …I was determined not to let a 2 year old pass me. We all made it just fine! :)

My daily walks have become 7 months ago

meditative and healthy. Living here in the wilderness I don’t have to take my car everywhere like I did in the city. My feet work just fine most days for getting around.

I’d like to get a beater bike to trek on the 26 miles of bike trails that have been built. I think that would be fun.

In the meantime I’m up to about 5 miles a day just walking around. :)

I hadn't walked for awhile 7 months ago

so my hikes this weekend were painful. I need new shoes to absorb the shock…my shins are hurting today.

Despite the pain I live in a beautiful area to take daily walks. The weather is mild. The scenery is picture postcard pretty. No excuses not to enjoy my daily strolls.

It was such a fun way to start the day. 8 months ago

Up and out early this morning. I have a friend who has 2 of the cutest little pups that I just adore. We walked them this morning all around our quaint little village here in the wilderness. Walking dogs makes my daily walks much more fun.

I’d love to adopt a pup…kitten…birds…you name it but my landlord doesn’t allow pets. So for now I’ll walk my friends’ pets and get fit at the same time.

Have been getting out walking 8 months ago

everyday for the past few weeks. The snow has melted and the trees are budding. It has been a beautiful Spring here in the wilderness. I live next to the river where the walking/bike trails start so there hasn’t been any excuse except my inertia for my not getting out and enjoying nature.

Still having trouble getting 9 months ago

out for a daily walk. The past 3 weeks I have had the crud going around- cold & flu. Now that I am feeling better I am going to put this into my daily routine starting today.
