A fantastic winter wonderland holiday season…

The Christmas stroll of holiday carolers singing, lights and yes dare I say a “White Christmas”...a scene out of a Currier and Ives painting.

Hunting for the perfect Christmas tree in a forest instead of a tree lot. Shopping for the special gifts for my precious babies in Texas. Baking dozens and dozens of cookies for the new friends I’ve made here.

Ending a job that wasn’t fulfilling with the promise of a brighter future doing the things I actually love in 2008.

Finally feeling at home here in the wilderness.

I have not spent the winter holidays 2 years ago

with my Mother since I was a Senior in high school…I was busy with my life far away and always seemed to make it home in the spring or summer but never during the winter.

Our first Thanksgiving in years was so much fun! She called me last night to tell me how excited she is that I will be here for the family Christmas party on the 22nd and especially my birthday Christmas Eve.

I hadn’t realized how much we have missed over the years.

Last night a friend 2 years ago

invited me to dinner to meet other friends who actually own her favorite restuarant. It is 30 miles north of where I live on a mountain road…almost to Canada.

I almost didn’t go because it was dark, rainy and foggy. But, my natuaral instinct is to stay home alone so I trekked across the wilderness for dinner.

I am sooo happy I did! The dinner was delicious and the new friends I found are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life.

By the time dinner was over the fog had socked in the whole area so they insisted I stay instead of drive home.

The owner’s wife and one of her employees are baking all day Tuesday for their Thanksgiving buffet on Thursday. They invited me back to join in the fun.

I would love totake the whole day to bake with them. :)

Yesterday afternoon 2 years ago

I left my non-productive job and went by the mortgage company where my license hangs waiting for me to be brave and do what I do well here in the wilderness.

There on my desk was an invitation from the Chamber of Commerce to join their Ambassador’s Club. I filled out the profile with glee and dropped it by their office.

Then I celebrated by exploring a small town nearby where I had heard of a really cool used book store(it is) and a couple of antique stores. That little bit of time doing some browsing refreshed my spirit!

I have a feeling the next couple of months will be filled with new experiences. ;)

As silly as this sounds 2 years ago

my new fulfilling experience for October has been to actually enjoy Autumn…a real one with crisp air, the smell of wood burning fireplaces, the beautiful fall foliage…

I had taken all of this beauty for granted as a child. It’s a blessing to experience it again.

Way cool! 2 years ago
