pay off credit cards

My dad gave me a gift of some money and I cancelled my phone and generally did without and just gritted my teeth and did it. It’s done now, and Never Again will I marry someone with emotional problems with money they cannot and will not face.

I accidentally paid TWO large payments on the last credit card. I had to transfer $$ from savings. But, I have 11.23 left. This is the last card. That means, when I pay the 11.23, I’ll have paid off the last of the cards. In other news, I seemed to have drained my savings. Hmmm. Bill pay still gets the better of me sometimes.

One card down, and of the rest, they are all at APR less than my mortgage. In an an odd way, perhaps I should start making early mortgage prepayments so I can get out of PMI (private mortgage insurance)? Any opinions on this?

I have re-developed my debt so that it is entirely off of credit cards. I really have only a few $ to go at this point. I still have the debt, it is just in an other form. But this exact goal is perilously close—I am warning you now.

I could teach in the Fall and allocate the 5k in pay debt. However, it’d interfere with my goal of being more productive at work.
I guess the answer is: work hard over the summer getting work stuff done that is due in the fall and prepare the class in advance. I’ve taught it twice already.
I have MAJOR deadlines on 5 Aug and 1 Oct. The kind where you do, in fact, drop dead if you do not make them. So, the class could really compete against those.

entire reimbursement check to highest APR card, which has a large balance…. Making a big payment like that feels great, even though it is just robbing one (lower-APR card-where I actually charged the expenses) Peter to pay Paul.

and, it is now zeroed out. Ta-da! Now, lock it up in a drawer.
