reading some great non-fiction books lately. One on the English plant hunters of the early 19th Century which I found fascinating and now another on Douglas Mawson’s Antarctic explorations. The lives of these people are amazing and I am filled with admiration for their passion.

Have just started watching Michael Palin’s New Europe. First episode has taught me heaps about the former Yugoslavia – now Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, Albania & Croatia. Very very interesting and eye opening.

I have been watching a good series called Coast – all about the coastline of the UK. The storyline mentioned the event of the Highland clearances and because I was really interested in the topic I did some more reading on it via this website:

Today I researched the difference between these two beings and their habitats. For a long time I had thought them to be the same thing but they are in fact differet. So there you go.

Well yesterday after watching birds sitting on the electricity wires out the front of the house, I had an educational discussion on electricity, lightning and the makeup of everthing by atoms and what atoms are made of, with my intelligent partner.

I am definitely going to make use of this both to continue being a life long learner when retired and to make more friends with similar interests
