This weekend I plan on paying for a strangers dinner (or lunch or coffee) or something like that. I have not done that in a long time and I plan on doing it this weekend!

We have a coffee pot in the break room and everyone is suppose to donate a few coins for each cup since an individual actually purchases the coffee, not the company. Well I saw a sign up the other day that stated no one is contributing to the fund. I don’t drink coffee but I plan on putting a few dollars in the can…Secretly
It’s that time of year again, my work has sponsored the same child and family again this year. I have been getting package after package the past two days with toys and clothes in them that I ordered. We receieved the gift list last week and it was so cute. We have been able to get everything on that list plus a few other things including coats, jeans, etc. :-) I hope I am able to be a part of this sponsorship via my work or myself for a long time to come.
A couple of weeks ago I had ordered some posters from www.forbetterlife.org (they provide them to schools free of charge) and they just arrived today! They are HUGE posters, about 3 feet high. There were 7 of them and I hung up three in my office and three around the halls in various locations. They have different themes and one is a random acts of kindness poster with little ideas on it. I am super excited about it (I’m easy what can I say) it just made me feel good walking around and putting them up. It was a good feeling, I can’t wait to hear comments about them. :-)
I printed off a few ‘posters’ from the http://www.actsofkindness.org/ website and posted them in our lunch area, there is a message board in there that never has anything on it, so I went around and found some colorful paper and printed off the “kindness ideas” poster, the “Kindness, Pass it on” card, and the “Week of Kindess” for Nov, 2006 info. And I hung them in the break area and I printed off a calendar of local events in the area for the rest of the year and figure everyone can look through it while their food heats up or they grab some coffe.. :-) YAY Me…No one saw me either, so I feel sneaky…
Well…last night as I drove home I noticed a lot of college students having to walk around without umbrellas and it was raining a cold rain, I could not find my umbrella in my car or I would have given it to one of them, SO I figured out something I’d like to do, since it should be kinda rainy off and on during the rest of the month, I want to buy a few umbrella’s and hand them out to people who have to walk or wait around for the bus in the rain….
I will try to buy a few this weekend.
Ok…. I have been slacking on this goal a bit…BUT the past few days I have been the recipient of some very kind words from a few different people and I believe words are very nice ‘kind acts’......they made ME smile anyway and think of them as very kind!
Last night in class I did tell a girl next to me I like her pants (they were very cute, capirs with stripes) and she seemed really pleased to get the compliment…that made me feel good too! And today I stood up for a fellow co worker in a meeting…that can be a ‘kind act’ right? I have been slacking, but I am NOT giving up on this goal…I’ll try to fit in at least one little thing a day!
I printed off the bookmarks (from actsofkindness.org) and while I was at the concert on Saturday I posted them in about 5 restrooms throughout the evening. :-)
I have my book marks and two smaller posters all printed (from actsofkindness.org ) I plan on doing some hanging tonight and over the weekend! I need to carry some tape around with me though! :-)
Thanks for the idea Mooniebutt!!!!
I need to remember I have this goal now and I can use up my own space! :-)
Tonight I have class so I am going to park in a spot further away, instead of taking the closer one…or the one I come upon first, that way another student, maybe one running late can park closer… :-)
Yay, I used my own space and everything!
