Well, I tried. Again. 1 month ago

The one I called was listed as “taking new patients”, but when I phoned I was told I’d be put on a waiting list. So I guess I’m stuck with the old guy for now.

I have a cold 7 months ago

Well, a sore throat and am losing my voice. Apparently a sore throat is one of the symptoms of swine flu (and is also a symptom of many other things, like simply a sore throat).

Because I’m working in a school right now, I’m not sure if I should go tomorrow or just keep my virus/bacteria/ germs at home with me.

Normally I’d just go and make sure to use coughing etiquette and wash my hands constantly. But people are a bit paranoid about this potential pandemic thingy, so I don’t want to be accused of being a Typhoid Mary.

Sleeping in is good for colds, right? ;-)

Sigh, I will make a trip to my old grumpy doctor tomorrow, just to be sure I’m not carrying the bubonic plague/ swine flu / small pox / leprosy etc…

Progress 14 months ago

Optometrist appointment is Nov 4 @ 5pm,
Chiropractor appt is next Tuesday, I forget what time (4:30?)
Haven’t made a dentist appointment yet.

OK despite being verrrrry busy at the moment 14 months ago

(and despite the fact that this entry is only tenuously related to the goal’s topic)

After next week, I will have a blissfully lightened course load for 2 weeks. Half of my classes are going to be cancelled. This is a vital chance to get caught up and perhaps even ahead (!) in my coursework. Oh how luxurious that would be.

But it’s also the only time in the foreseeable future that I will have any daylight hours free to get stuff done. Stuff like finding a new doctor.

So, non-school related mini goals:
Make optometrist appointment, get fitted for a different brand of contact lenses – the current ones used to be good but the quality has declined over the past year, and I’m not the only customer who thinks so. (Acuvue 2)

Find a dentist Get teeth cleaned, ask about getting veneers or whatever those things are called which are similar but cheaper :-) – I only need 2, so hopefully it’s affordable.

Go to a walk-in clinic and get a massage therapy prescription. I already had one, but I changed health plans and need a new note. Obviously if you read the previous entries about my regular doctor you would know why I’m not going to him.

Get a massage or two! :-)

Get a haircut I might be able to sneak this in earlier than next week.

Get a chiropractor Yes, I am going to be singlehandedly enriching all the paraprofessional medical practitioners in my neighbourhood, but I am totally ok with that! I figure the chiro + massage should be the equivalent of sending my twisted spine to boot camp! Yay!

What else… get a new doctor?

Actually 21 months ago

went to see him this morning before work.

He seems much less grumpy in the morning.

Current doctor 21 months ago

...is a jerk. I know that’s probably not appropriate to say Really, I am not an emotionally sensitive person at all, I’m even called insensitive!.

I don’t hate my doctor or even particularly dislike him (though he does annoy me sometimes). I started seeing him because he’s my boyfriend’s doctor, and a while later it occurred to me that he’s quite disagreeable. (And no, it’s not like I’m asking him for opiates or anything.)

I don’t mind so much that every time I go see him I feel myself getting ready for a confrontation of some sort – I can handle that part. What annoys me is that if I have 2 (simple) things I want to see him about, he says he can only do one thing per appointment. i.e. don’t even bother bringing it up if you need a prescription for birth control pills AND have just been stabbed in the torso – each issue requires a separate visit! I’m pretty sure that “separate visit” means on a different day – don’t think he can bill the health plan for 2 visits on the same day.
