Well, I’ve finished everything I had going on in Japan, at least.
Now I just need to learn to be very selective about the things I start from now on :-)

organizing my apartment for the move.
For the moment I need to finish:
mailing one box homesorting my latest pile of papersputting up a notice for some stuff I want to sell.
I have not started any new projects.
But I haven’t really made a full list of the things I need to finish either.
Oops.
obviously THAT didn’t happen :-p
Things to finish:
Keep the floor clean.Get rid of all my stuff.
Pay off all my debts.
Repair instead of throwing away.
Be able to do 20 pushups in a row.
I am going to finish all these goals by July 2007, hopefully sooner. And when I accomplish all of them, I will mark THIS goal as completed.
At the same time, I am going to wholeheartedly focus on NOT starting any more new projects!
My first challenge will be to create a specific list of stuff that’s unfinished… this may take a while. I have the feeling that I’ve totally forgotten about quite a lot of these unfinished projects. And I fear that once I start recalling them, the list may snowball out of control!!!
I’ll ponder it over the weekend (what to add, what to ignore – for now).
I want the size of the list to be manageable, so that I can maintain my motivation to finish THIS new project, he he!
My newest project: to finish other projects! And if I only get THIS one half-done, then I’ve still finished 50% of the unfinished stuff! YAY!
I’m going to try the same thing with this goal that I did with the ‘Get my shit together’ goal:
Write out a list of all the stuff I need to finish in an entry, then designate a day/week to do it, and an end point – whereby if it’s not done it’s getting garbaged.
Nice and simple.
But it’s a good reminder, nonetheless. I’ll probably check it off when I feel I have made progress with my current selection of unfinished things, AND learned not to start so many projects in the first place.
Soon it will be Christmas break for me, so I aim to tackle at least a few things, meaning either finish them or just throw them out :-)
...am a complete disaster in this regard. Really.
For example, my winter coat (bought only last year, and it wasn’t cheap) has a hole in each of the two pockets.
Today I had about half an hour of free time and I thought to myself, I can probably sew the pockets now. But at the same time I knew, KNEW! that I would never get both of them done, I would get one done and then start doing something else. And the other pocket would have a hole in it til Kingdom Come.
In the end, because of my frustration with only doing half of a project, I didn’t do ANYTHING with it. I suppose that’s worse. But tomorrow, my primary goal is to mend BOTH pockets.
