socializing.

It seems like the invites going around are always for similar activities. So – I am going to look into inviting people to stuff I‘d like to do, but no one else I know is interested in (that I’m aware of).

So I’m going to find info about either a) a classical concert or b) a live jazz show, sometime in the next week.

If 20 people come – great. If 2 people come – great (maybe even better- 20 is a lot!).

PROGRESS REPORT: I got the schedules for both Jazz and Classical. Classical, most of the imminent concerts are fairly expensive, so might wait on that. Jazz… there’s one a week Thursday that might be a good choice. I’ll put the word out…

Further progress report: I invited about 12 people to jazz by text message. Only one person even answered, to say she couldn’t make it. So forget my sending out further invitations :-(

that I would go to the Naked Man festival with her (yes, Japan’s weird).

This is my third spring in Japan and I still haven’t gone to the Naked man festival… I’m actually not sure if the penis festival is the same thing or if it’s different. I know the uhm, vagina festival, a.k.a. the women’s fertility festival, is a different event. (I TOLD you Japan’s weird! I think it’s a shinto thing :-)

The problem is – it’s on a Friday and I’d have to ask for that day off work. It IS a cultural event, after all. The schedule’s not set for March yet, so I should probably put a word in now…)

[EDIT – I didn’t go – I couldn’t ask for the day off because I actually had a lot of work to do that day. Oh well.]

Send V-day package to J. He said not to bother, but I know if I don’t send anything he’ll end up sitting at home, alone, crying for that whole day! ;)-

It was a whole 2 weeks late, but since I’d told him he wasn’t getting anything he was still surprised. And he actually gushed over it – I just sent some little stuff like his fave kind of chocolate and some comfort stuff for working outdoors, with little notes. He liked the little notes the best.

Today this goal means that I have to go to the high school play at the International School tonight – even though I don’t know where it is :( because I said I would try to be there. DID IT!!!

Don’t know what the play is called, or if I have to pay (probably not). Don’t know any of the kids in the play either… It was The Mousetrap (Agatha Christie)

I hope the school is reasonably close to the train station. It wasn’t.
