I’m still compulsively stress-biting.
They’re growing back from being non-existent. I did some cuticle care this evening, and I think I may do a gel manicure to make them strong and keep me from biting.

I’m still compulsively stress-biting.
They’re growing back from being non-existent. I did some cuticle care this evening, and I think I may do a gel manicure to make them strong and keep me from biting.
I’ve been keeping my nails out of my mouth for a while now, and keeping up with polishing them. Unfortunately, I have to redo them like every other day because they chip like crazy.
A coworker has had good luck with shellac manicures, and I’m considering trying one at the salon next week, and of I like it, splurging on one of the at home systems.
This is the nicest my nails have ever looked.
Of course they aren’t mine but I put the m on to try to keep me from biting and picking My real nails, which aren’t filed down to nothing like they would be if I had gone to a salon.
Hopefully I can kick the habit this time.
I ended up breaking, biting, or peeling off all of my nails a week or so ago. They weren’t quite as chomped down as they usually are, though. Progress?
Shortening the cycle, at least.
Almost 3 weeks since my last post here and no biting!
The key has been keeping them polished and pretty, and if I still get tempted, I put the awful tasting clear polish on top for the day to keep my hands out of my mouth.
This is as good as it gets for me, I think. Any longer and they break off.
Anyway, I gave myself a French manicure Sunday night, and topped it off with this stuff called “Kick the habit-STOP THE BITE.” It pretty much says on the bottle that it can be fatal if swallowed, so I’m basically too mortified to bite my nails.
Hopefully this will allow me to really grow them out and strengthen them. I need to remember to take my vitamin supplements daily.
I’ve had a relapse as well.
I think I made it about two or three weeks. It was getting to the point that they were long enough to break- my first time ever.
I had one break on me a day for a few days, then it all went downhill.
My nails look the best they have all year, but that’s not saying much. On top of constantly being bitten, my nails are also chronically dry and brittle.
I’m trying to keep them manicured and polished so they look too nice to bite. Hopefully I can keep up with it.
