This week, I have received a message from a young man inviting me to join him to promote peace. I was touched by Mohammad’s message and by his poetry. It inspired me a poem that I have offered to him as a sign of hope that one day…Peace:
Me Who You Torture
It is me who you torture
It is me who must endure
The fear that you bring
The deer you’re killing
It is me who you torture
It is me who must endure
The fire of your arms
The loss of my arm
It is me who you torture
It is me who must endure
The nonsense of your fights
The innocent that you fright
It is me who you torture
It is me who must endure
The child that you break
The life that you take
It is you, who can see
The you, that is in me
It is you, who can decide
That this war, must subside
It is you, who can see
The you, that is in me
It is you, who can still spare
That part of me, for which you care
C’est toi seulement, qui vois
La part de toi, qui est en moi
Toi seul, peux nous sauver mon frère
Toi en moi, à qui tu fais la guerre.
