It’s been 4 months now since I started my genealogy research and it’s getting more and more fascinating the more I discover. Not only have I figured out more about my family and myself, but about life (seriously!!!).

I just found another relative of mine (our ancestors match in the 6th generation back from now xD) and we changed research data with each other. We sort of met, by accident, on a genealogy forum where I also found an increadible helpful amount of entries to the whole subject. As a result, I visited some other websites of hobby genealogists, who introduced their family tree on their on homepages and thus helping others, who research the same branches.

Hence, I fell in love with the idea to present my research results to other genealogists or interested persons as well as represent my family as a whole. Right, you guessed it… I’m going to make my own homepage about my family (tree) ^^

I’m very excited and full of enthusiasm about this (I’d love to start immediately), but I have to pull myself together as I’m going to have my written exam on the 18th March – which basically means: business before pleasure.

But after that’s done nothing can stop me eg

P.S. My homepage is supposed to look like a really old piece of art from medieval times – just like the map in the picture (to give you an impression on what’s on my mind ^^ ).

These ties that bind 12 months ago

I really love doing genealogy research, because I’ve always been very interested on all things history related – and being able to do family research is simply marvellous!!!

However, my grandfather, who died in January 2008, did some family research before my time and if I hadn’t discovered this by accident, then all would have been thrown away sooner or later. Now, what’s the point of putting all this effort into something when it’s going to land in the bin anyway?! That’s like if I was to receive a picture drawn by a 5 year-old, take a look at it and throw it right away in front of his eyes – how cruel is that?!!

I don’t want grandpa’s and my work to be useless and forgotten. It’s a piece of him and right now from me. That’s why I hope that one of my future children or grandchildren is going to be as fascinated as me by the thought of continuing a piece of family history and will pass it on.
