...perhaps it’s because you are so close to the ground. As you fall your body is telling you; “This is it! You idiot! You’ve gone and topped yourself! Why didn’t you listen to those little nagging doubts about jumping off a high structure! MORON!!”
Fortunately, on the rebound (assuming you do actually bounce back up) your mind realises the magnificent trick you’ve just played on it and begins to enjoy the moment.
It was a bit pissed off when one of my shoes came off and floated away down the raging river. But better a shoe than my camera!
