If you’re a female, and you release a CD full of angst-ridden songs, then I will buy it. Or at least, that seems to be the case so far.

Fiona has a unique voice that doesn’t seem physically possible given her diminutive size. And the lyrics are awesome. I’m not normally one to focus much attention on lyrics. I more tend to let the music float over me. But Fiona’s work demands attention.

Kate is brilliant in Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind. I think it was the first Jim Carrey film that I’ve really loved.

I first saw her in Heavenly Creatures though. (There’s a particular scene in that film involving a brick that literally makes me feel pain)

I like that she plays strong independent female characters. And that she is very much herself.. not struggling to conform to what Hollywood think is the ideal/norm.

I’ve just seen Janeane kick some serious Fox-reporter ass in an interview from about five years ago. She was invited to talk about her view on her views on disarming Iraq, which impressed me no end. Just at how eloquently she put her view across, but also how incredibly informed she was… or not just that, but how quickly she could access the relevant facts. She definitely is one of the most informed people I’ve heard talk about the situation in Iraq.

What’s frightening is how accurate she was in hindsight. If she has a cause, I’d definitely perk up and listen.

Oh, and she’s cute.

When I was about 18, I had a crush on another 18-year old. She was(is!) a famous singer with the most amazing voice. But that whole long-distance thing was insurmountable…

Actually, this was a recurring theme around that age. I was a serial crusher? Is it sad that as an adult, those feelings aren’t quite so intense anymore?

Bugger that! Who wants to be an adult. I want crushes and devastation. Innocence and the naivety of youth.

Angie has a new album out, which I’m going to track down. Her voice is brilliant. (It helps that she’s cute too)

Just saw Maggie again in Stranger than fiction.
Now normally the rule is; Will Ferrell is only funny in movies where he’s wearing a wig.

Well, he’s not wearing a wig this time, and it’s not particularly funny. But what it is, is a very good film. Emma Thompson does a great job too. But once again, Maggie steals it for me. :-)

I find this goal kind of funny sometimes. Is it the actress, or the character they play that’s attractive?
Then again, I guess the good ones probably bring something of themselves to each part. But how much?

I first saw Samantha Mathis in Super Mario Bros. Or possibly Pump up the Volume. I know Super Mario Bros bombed, but I loved it. Samantha played a great princess and I’ve always liked John Leguizamo in films. (Although I prefer his voice acting as Sid in Ice Age the most!)

Anyway, in the early 90’s my crush was Samantha Mathis. :-)

Apparently she’s just played a role in the series “Lost”, which I haven’t seen yet. Still have a bit of catch-up to do there. (Can’t believe it’s going to run for another two series!)

I can’t decide whether I thought she was more delicious in The American President or in Regarding Henry

Of course, she is happily married to Warren Beatty so the chances of her ending up in my bed (along with any other celeb) are pretty slim at best.
