Create a signature oil painting media blending with car paints

My style lacks detail, precision, and the scope gets lost. I saw John Michael Hill’s paintings at Centaur gallery and they touch me, especially the way the colors can change under different light conditions, he has a layering effect in his color, kind of like a three stage paint effect on cars, so I am blending automobile toners and effects with oil colors to create some effects that I hope will make my painting more interesting in case my style doesn’t mature. I know effects will never overcome problems in content, but if my stuff is immature and undisciplined, maybe the pizzazz and wow factor will help overcome that.
