Since my husband and I are planning to move to somewhere in or near Vancouver, BC within the next year, we’re starting the process by buying maps to help us get to know the area. The other day we bought a detailed fold-out street map of Greater Vancouver, and I started looking up things like the street on which I lived for two years as a kid, and the elementary school I attended for Grades 5 and 6, and the streets on which my grandparents lived when they were alive. (It’s amazing how things come back to you, even after so many years!) Today we added to our collection by buying another fold-out map (not quite as detailed as the other one, but showing all the areas around Vancouver) which we posted on the wall, and also a very detailed map book for looking up specific streets and areas easily. Hopefully by the time it comes to start seriously looking for a new home, we’ll have a better idea of the various suburbs and how they relate to each other and to Vancouver. Fun stuff!
