This is the root to a ton of my evils. Insecurity, envy, inadequacy, self-consciousness, hopelessness, etc. I honestly need to work on this. And just saying it isn’t enough, I have to start developing ways to counteract this terrible habit.

WHAT I’VE FOUND through the course of all this comparison struggling is that what I do is analyze other people and pinpoint the things that they have which exceed what I have. Whether it be looks (body type, clothing style, hair, etc.), abilities (athletic, scholastic, etc.), character (sense of humor, benevolence, etc.); automatically they become better in my eyes than me. However, by doing this, I ignore and degrade my own abilities and character.
By putting myself down, I am not using the things that God has given me to benefit anyone, especially myself. God has created everyone differently, so that everyone has the ability to better the world in a different way. If we all had the same abilities, there would not be need for all of us; we wouldn’t need to work together or assist each other through life.
I am me; God has created me as such. He hasn’t created anyone exactly like me, and has designed a special plan that fits the me He knows inside and out. Comparing myself to other people isn’t going to change who I am, it will only make me feel dissatisfied with the work God has done in me.
