I have had a 35mm camera since highschool. Over the years I moved up to Nikon equipment and fancier lenses, but my shots never really gelled in the way that I wanted them to. I shot slides to keep the costs down and the few that I liked best printed.
A year ago I got a Canon 20d. It seemed that finally cameras had enough pixels to rival film at 8×10 size, there were places that would make inexpensive quality prints, and the cameras were a decent price.
I was absolutely unprepared for what happened next. I shot so many frames that I became a better photographer. I could view my shots at 8×10 size on the screen for free. I could see all the mistakes. I could identify the successes. I had to get better lenses. Now I want a faster computer. My standards are shifting and I am comparing my shots with the work of professionals. So the dissatisfaction is still the same, but at a higher level.
Anyhow, it is all fun and definitely worth pursuing
