My city hosts an event known as the world of Wearable Art each year. The city gets into the spirit of this in various ways, including shops displaying their own wearable art costumes in the windows. Tonight on the way home, I saw this absolutely beautiful creation in a shopping arcade. Yes, you are seeing right, it is a combination evening gown/floral arrangement. I don’t know how people think up these things, but I’m so pleased that they do stuff like this which brings beauty and an element of surprise into our everyday lives.

some amazing shots of the dust storm in Sydney, check here. The home page features today are all of the dust storm. There are times I am so grateful I moved back here from Sydney, and this is one of them.
Edit – the photos have now moved to here
strange activities in my neighbourhood, even odder things happened tonight. A spotlight shone on a nearby building, and rabbit shadows appeared. Apparently it is another TV commercial, but I think some of it definitely won’t make it into the final version. It looked a bit rude to me :)
PS These events are really quite extraordinary. I want to assure you that I live in a nice neighbourhoos.
I want to share with you some unintentionally hilarious reading. It happens to be an e-mail advertising new lines from Strawberrynet. I think English is a second language for their copywriter. A few gems from this -
Sway your eyelashes alive (oscillating mascara)
Revive your cell, let your skin reborn (anti-ageing skincare)
Activate the “Youth” in your genes (more anti-ageing stuff)
Glorifying a women’s charm (a perfume, which it goes on to say “is famous for its milder effects to glorify a women’s charm. It is feminine in a rather non-traditional, not all-out-girly way.”)
And finally, for men’s fragance
Violet is in your vessel
This perfume conjures a veil of violet magic. Its scent is oriental and floral which brings you into the center of attention, with a wish to seduce you like no others. It is lonesome and seductive, in fire of desire and passions.
All those people who are not fans of Morris dancing and happen to belong to Redbubble might like to go and vote in this challenge. Currently a morris dancing photo is a serious contender. Another serious contender is one called Dancing in the Street, which features latin dancing in downtown Welliongton and is altogether a much nicer photo :)
Here we are having what may turn out to be the hottest day this summer, while over in Australia temperatures are reaching the 40s in some places. This is causing bushfires and really affecting the wildlife. This amazing photograph shows a koala that has come right up to a cyclist in search of water. Really freak behaviour for the average koala, so you can imagine how desperate it was.
This afternoon I, along with a dozen other people, watched in amazement as a stingray went for a lazy swim in Frank Kitts lagoon which is in downtown Wellington. The lagoon is normally used by rowing clubs, pedal boats, ducks and seagulls, not to mention the odd shopping trolley and sundry traffic cones. To give you an idea of what this place is like, have a look here
Look very carefully at why Obese Kid got flagged. Those hidden links…
