I fought with myself all morning- “It’s too cold to walk (27 degrees)”, “I don’t have the right clothes”, “I’ll look funny running”, etc, etc. Finally I just went as I was, jeans and all and it felt wonderful.
Following the “No Need for Speed” program I walked 5 min and ran 30 seconds four times. I was surprised at how easy the running sections went. Only during the last one was I really out of breath and that was because I’d just finished walking up a hill and was out of breath to begin with.
I really needed to write this down so that I can go back and show myself that it will feel so good afterwards to get out there and do it!

60 minutes total for the week. On Monday I walked one mile in 20 minutes. On Tuesday I also walked a mile, but on Saturday I walked 1.25 miles in the same 20 minutes! A beautiful, 35 degree, sunny day, so bright I had to squint going one way on the Greenway and coming back I was almost too warm with the sun on the back of my sweatshirt!

I’m following No Need For Speed and on the first week. I’ve done two one mile brisk walks so far, with the third tomorrow.
It has felt wonderful to get out and moving. I walk along the Yakima Greenway and listen to NPR All Music Considered on my Shuffle.
