Last night was my first burn. It was exhilarating to say the least. I thought my fire poi were heavy before, but when they’re soaked in fuel, dear god.
I didn’t do too bad, only hit myself a few times, haha. I’m still having a bit of trouble controlling my poi because of their weight, but it’ll come with practice.
I can’t wait to burn again, and again, and again, and again…

I got my first pair of fire poi last month, way for me to not update! My friend Jason made them for me, my god, they’re heavy! It’s going to take a lot of practice to get used to these things.

Well, I can turn with the aide of the weave now, in fact, I can spin continuously, to the right and to the left. I’ve also mastered the corkscrew.
I know these are small steps, but they’re pretty important ones!

is in the bag! I’m trying really hard to get the reverse weave under control, still no luck on turning.
Also, with the help of Jason, I’m going to try to make a pair of ribbon poi later this week, that should be fun.

I FINALLY GOT DOWN THE BASIC THREE BEAT WEAVE! Oh my god, I have no idea why it took me so long or how I actually learned it. When I stopped trying to understand the mechanics of the move and exactly how it works, I did it. I stopped thinking and things just flowed. I also mastered thread the needle! I’ve practically got the alternate butterfly down, but the mexican wave is still giving me a bit of trouble. And alas, turning still eludes me, but I made a lot of progress for 2 hours of practice!
