find my father

Last night my grandma called and said, “Guess who Mike and Stephanie ran into earlier this week at the Y? ... Troy!”

Ok, so, no one has been able to contact this guy in years, and then out of no where two of my family memebers run into him at the YMCA they just joined? Thats rediculous, haha.

Of course, no one brought who exactly Stephanie was to Troy. Mike grew up with my dad and is now married to my mom’s half-sister. I’m not even sure he’d recognize my mom’s name if he heard it. Also, nothing was said about me.

Mike’s offered to give my dad a letter if I’d like to write one… but, what the hell do I say? Seriously.

I think I may have located my father, or at least his past addresses and phone number. I’m going to try to call sometime soon, if I can work up the nerve.

The last time my father saw me I was 3 months old and it was his 16th birthday. That was in 1986. I don’t blame him for not wanting me in his life, I wouldn’t want a baby at 16 either. I wouldn’t want a baby at all, but thats a different story.

I’ve been toying with the notion of tracking him down for the last five years or so, but I wouldn’t know where to start, and what if he didn’t want to meet me? My mother doesn’t like the idea of me finding him either.

His name is Troy Skinner, he should be around 35 years old, and he supposidly still lives in the Kansas City, MO. He may be in a band. I’ve been told I look like him.
