I got home from vacation yesterday afternoon and weighed myself. I had gained 10 pounds in 3-4 weeks. I knew I had gained some, but I didn’t think it would have been that much. At first I told myself that it was because #1 I had just stepped out of the shower (my hair holds a lot of water), #2 I had already eaten breakfast and lunch today (I usually weigh first thing in the morning), and #3 surely I had built up some leg muscles with all that walking I did (see heel blisters for proof).
I was deceiving myself. I tried on some pants that fit me fine earlier in the summer, and I could barely get them zipped. I weighed again this morning, completely dry and before breakfast, and I was only a pound lighter.
So now I have 9 pounds to lose on top of the 8 pounds I was already hoping for. I will mostly focus on diet, although I hope to add in a little extra activity, beginning in a week or so when the kids are back in school.
New goals: Lose 5 pounds within the next two weeks, and 10 pounds (the next 5 pounds) by mid-October. Then I’ll think about the next 7 pounds, because really that’s just vanity weight.
EDIT: I decided that my first milestone will be BMI of 21, my second milestone will be BMI of 20, and my third milestone will be BMI of 19.
