50 Women to Watch--Article

Today, The Wall Street Journal published it’s 2006 50 Women to Watch. You can’t get the actual report online without an account, but if it’s not too late, run out and buy one—it’s really worth it. Alternatively, here is a link that gives you some more info.

My mental list of female heroes is a little light in the Captains-of-Industry department, so I found this to be a huge eye-opener.

This goal may be about finding role models for “little girls”, but this not-so-little girl has found quite a few here herself.

Rosalind Franklin--DNA Pioneer

Among her many accomplishments as a scientist, Franklin made a pivotal contribution to the understanding of DNA structure. Although everyone is familiar with Watson and Crick, for rather murky (but possibly explicable) reasons, Franklin’s name is often overlooked. Perhaps, had she not died young, she would have received the recognition she deserved.

Check out the Wikipedia entry about Franklin.
